Intent
Key Knowledge to be learned in History
In history children will regularly address and sometimes devise historically valid questions about change, cause, similarity and difference, and significance. This will develop a secure chronological understanding of local, British and world history.
Through devising and addressing these questions children will:
Understand the social, ethnic, cultural or religious diversity of past society.
Understand the characteristic features of the past, including ideas, beliefs, attitudes and experiences of men, women and children.
Understand the main changes in a period of history (considering aspects of: social, religious, political, technological and cultural).
Understand and use appropriate historical terms.
Understand how people’s lives have shaped this nation and how Britain has influenced and been influenced by the wider world.
By the end of their time at Hyrstmount they should be able to note connections, contrasts and trends over time
